I don't have the BRMSC1, just 2, but besides the mainly Vinnie [awa Weck] shredfest, i always thought the vid of BRBB playing "[Dirty-] Rotten Kid" was awesome. BR really kixit on there. [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img] [img]cool.gif[/img] Pure swingin BB genius.
Ya gotta love Buddy's horn section, also [i can't stand a "lazy" horn section...which they were NOT]...even if he did get madder'n a hornet at 'em fr time to time on da BR Big [Bad Band] Bus...[that's why they were so "bright"]... ;-)
Speakg of horns, a little story along the premise...back in the late 90s sometime, the tourg band i was in got the opportunity to share the stage for 12 days w Stan Mark [of one time Maynard Ferguson fame] & the "Sin City Suitz," a great swg/BB w KILLIN' 7 pc horn sectn ATT. Drumr's name was Bruce Harper, & they sounded fantastic. Bruce was a super-nice cat & we hung a little bit over those days & "traded some licks." ;-) I played him the drum solo in DW's track Hard-Wired one day on break between our sets & he dug it a lot [shook his head in amazement]...'surprise, huh.
It was a shame because it was in a "southern" state...& the average crowd for their show was a geriatric one...they'd play a completely, ferociously BURNIN' set [also a couple of nice ballads], & afterward you could hear the "crickets' song" [like Holmes posted in that WFD thread ;-p], except for a few die-hards who knew WTF was going on & weren't exactly on their way to the morgue yet...I told Stan not to sweat it, because they should've had him at different time slot, or another stage entirely due to the demographic. Don't even get me started on many local or state events' musical acts "coordinating management" [often a misnomer for sure]. [Sometimes a flustered freshman fr your local Jr college...or retiree wanting "something to do"...good for them i suppose!] ;-)
Can anyone say, "logistical nightmare?"
Back to BR; he could be soft & sensitive as a whisper, but he could also turn around n be a furious tornado, kickin the tar outta those arrangements... [img]eek.gif[/img] /;-)
Regardless of how hard he seemed he could be, ya gotta admit, when he played, the guy had [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
